Goals & Expectations

GOALS

  • Encourage and motivate students to become physically active and physically fit through dancing, walking, running, stretching, Zumba, Pilates, jazzercise, cheer, and more

  • Educate students about the different techniques, styles, and cultures of dance

  • Provide students with the training needed for high school dance or cheer teams and  increase their success rate in earning a spot on one of these teams

  • Educate students to express their feelings through dance and cheer

  • Build the confidence and social skills of students

  • Provide an outlet for anxiety, anger, or frustration in a positive atmosphere

  • Provide an opportunity for students to be involved in an extra-curricular activity

  • Help students feel connected to their peers and team

EXPECTATIONS

  • Report to practice. Stay at practice.  No one leaves practice until practice is over unless a parent or guardian comes to pick up his/her child in person at practice.

  • Students may not run inside the dance studio. No horseplay.

  • Students may not loiter outside the studio or in the parking lot.

  • Students must remain inside the studio until parents come inside the studio to pick them up.  This is to insure your child’s safety.

  • Students must use the restroom before class starts.

  • No food or snacks are permitted in the dance studios unless instructed otherwise.  However, water is permitted in the dance studios.

  • A student who does not follow procedures, refuses to participate, misbehaves, or shows a lack of respect to the instructor or to peers will be sent out of class, and the parent/guardian will be called to pick up the uncooperative child. The student will not be allowed to return to class until a conference has been held with the owner of Empire Performing Arts Center, the instructor, the parent/guardian, and the student. Continued, inappropriate behavior may result in dismissal from Empire Performing Arts Center.

  • Participating in Empire Performing Arts Center programs is an opportunity and a privilege.

  • Company dancers must maintain a GPA of 2.75 during the school year.

  • When the company student’s GPA drops below a 2.75, the student will be doing homework at the homework table provided at the studio instead of attending dance classes until GPA meets the 2.75 requirement.  School first!

  • Company dancers for the competitive team are determined by tryouts.
